the Barbican Centre [the Barbican Centre]
a large cultural centre in the Barbican, an area of modern buildings in the City of London, north of ↑St Paul's Cathedral. The Centre includes a concert hall, three cinemas, two theatres which were the London home of the ↑Royal Shakespeare Company until 2002, an art gallery, a public library and two exhibition halls, as well as a conference hall, a bar and restaurants.
